This year, MadFish Wines raised a record breaking amount of money for SurfAid in the SurfAid Corporate Cup.
Held in conjunction with the Margaret River Pro, the SurfAid Corporate Cup is a tag-team style surfing contest, with each team consisting of four people from the Margaret River wine industry plus one Pro surfer.
Teams fundraise in the lead up to the event, with the amount of money raised determining their selection of Pro surfer. The team who raises the most money gets first selection of Pro surfer, and so on.
This year, through the running of staff specials, raffles, eating large amounts of chocolates (for charity, of course!) and the auction of a signed surfboard, MadFish Wines along with our teamates at Supastik raised a total of $13,561.25 for SurfAid. This far surpassed previous years' totals and allowed us 3rd pick of Pro surfer, with the team choosing local Matt Baldock.
The team consisted of Phil Christian and John Rodda from MadFish Wines, Pete Holywell from Supa Stik Labels and Mark Gow.
Unfortunately we did not take out the Corporate Cup, but a big congratulations to our team who paddled out and battled the massive swell.
Overall, more than $98,000 was raised for SurfAid by the 10 teams, which is not only a cup record, but a SurfAid record!
A huge thank you to everyone who donated to this fantastic cause. Keep an eye out for upcoming SurfAid fundraising initiatives as we aim to raise even more for the 2016 SurfAid Corporate Cup.
