“Effortlessly medium-bodied and quite the contrast to the impact of Heartland, the strength of the Margaret River 2009 season is on full parade here. Lifted cracked pepper and violets burst from the glass, introducing black plum fruit, nely textured tannins and excellent poise. Great MR value.”

“I scribbled value at the bottom of the tasting sheet in big letters so it must be. And I gave it 91 so it must be pretty decent as well. I must have really liked it then. Anyway, it is distinctively spicy Shiraz, concentrated and deep in nature, intense yet with plenty of pure fruit, yet it is still a stylish wine with a good backbone supporting the fruit. The spicy blackberries made their mark, as did the plums, underpinned by an earthiness and good liquorice, black ones. Full bodied an impressive wine as is aid esp. at the price. Try this with roast pork and crackling.”

“Deep garnet-purple hue; a ripe blackberry bouquet, with clove and cinnamon providing complexity; the palate is juicy and generous, with a roasted meat and chewy tannin savoury conclusion.”

“With a bouquet of ripe plum, and slight fermentation aromas, the palate has abundant varietal character plus pepper and spice. SILVER MEDAL.”

Technical Notes
Shiraz is one of the iconic varieties grown in the Margaret River region. Our grapes are sourced from the Howard Park Leston vineyard and one grower in the northern Yallingup subdistrict. We look to produce shiraz with trademark sweet rich fruit and a subtle savoury edge to complement drinking with food.
The 2009 vintage has produced fine quality red wines where shiraz achieved full fruit ripeness, great colour, dark juicy plum fruit flavours and an open knit fine tannin structure.
Traditional fermentation in a mix of open top and static vessels, hand plunging and pump overs up to four times daily and basket pressing produces a shiraz with ample mouth-filling yet soft tannins to complement the naturally sweet shiraz fruit. Maturation in French and older American oak barriques for 15 months adds further complexity and structure. All components are matured separately and assembled just prior to bottling.
Tasting Notes
The colour is an outstanding vibrant and opaque purple red. Aromas of dark ripe plums, blueberries and steamed fruit pudding. The palate is rich and layered with satiny plum fruit supported by chocolate tannins and vanillan oak. There are also the regional hints of oyster shell and soy sauce adding complexity and a savoury edge to the gravely tannins, which finish long and are slightly chewy.
