The famous walled vineyard of Clos de Vougeot is the largest Grand Cru site in the Côtes de Nuits sub region of Burgundy, and was classified Grand Cru in 1937.  It is probably the most unique and controversial Grand Cru vineyard in Burgundy – over 80 different Domaines and families own plots in the vineyard and it is a subject of fierce debate whether the entire vineyard epitomises the ultimate quality designated by the appellation of Grand Cru.  Pascal’s vines are in a prized upper section of the vineyard called Le Grand Maupertuis, close to the neighbouring village of Echezeaux.

    Tasting Notes

Classic sweet blueberry and velvet characters and texture of Clos de Vougeot, sourced from the best part of the vineyard above the Clos itself. Strikingly deep bright purple red colour, with aromas of spiced dark cherries, hints of earth, and a rich and ripe textured palate balanced by the use of  50% lightly toasted oak; the layered and balanced smoky fruit flavours and fine tannin texture shows plenty of promise for the future.
