- Howard Park
At the beginning of August each year, we eagerly await the release of one of the most anticipated books among the wine industry – James Halliday’s Wine Companion. Written by one of Australia's celebrated wine critics, James Halliday, this wine companion is the go-to reference guide for all wine enthusiasts.
This year we are thrilled to share that we have once again retained our 5 Red Red Star rating, which, in the words of James Halliday means that "where the winery name itself is printed in red, that winery is generally acknowledged to have had a long track record of excellence in the context of its region - truly the best of the best" as well as receiving a number of wine reviews rating 90+ points.
A short summary of the results can be found below, followed by a breakdown per brand for Burch Family Wines.
- Burch Family Wines had 30 wines receive a score of 90+ points.
- 1 wine received a rating of 97 points, while 4 wines received 95 points

James Halliday says - "where the winery name itself is printed in red, that winery is generally acknowledged to have had a long track record of excellence in the context of its region - truly the best of the best."
Howard Park
97 points - 2017 Howard Park Chardonnay
“This iconic Chardonnay has a label that never seems to age. Mainly from the estate Allingham vineyard in Margaret River, a small portion from the Mount Barrow Vineyard in Mount Barker. Bright, clear quartz-green, it is a striking chardonnay that manages to combine intense flavours with elegance and balance, length inevitable given that start. Quality oak is hidden by the fruit, itself a shimmering blend of stone fruit and citrus joined at the hip. A supremely beautiful wine.” James Halliday
