Howard Park Wines

Since its inception in 1986, Howard Park’s philosophy has been to craft outstanding wines of great subtlety, character, balance and elegance. The original two wines produced by the founder John Wade were a Riesling and Cabernet Sauvignon, with very small parcels of fruit sourced from growers in the Mt Barker and Denmark region. John was encouraged by the attention that the first wine reviews received and that was the start of Howard Park! 6 years later the Wades teamed up with the Burch's and Howard Park’s future was on its way. Today the Burch family’s focus is multi regional with equal emphasis to the cool continental climate of the Great Southern and the warmer more temperate maritime climate of Margaret River.

To ensure quality and sustainable fruit sourcing, much work was done over 20 years, of researching excellent vineyards, and slowly acquiring, defining and classifying those vineyards that have shown to be best suited to particular varieties, ensuring the quality levels that Howard Park Wines demand. Currently Howard Park sources almost 100 % of the grapes used for their wines from their owned and managed vineyards, ensuring exceptionally high quality standards for its fruit requirements. Howard Park vineyards stretch from the sub region of Mt Barker near the southern coast of Western Australia, namely the Mt Barrow vineyard and the old Abercrombie vineyard, established in 1975, in the Great Southern, to the Leston Vineyard in the Wilyabrup subregion of Margaret River and Allingham, from the Karridale subregion of Southern Margaret River, with over 180 hectares under vine.

Howard Park is the premium brand of Burch Family Wines and boasts of a range of wines that are Five Red Star Rated in the James Halliday Wine Companion for over 17 years and consistently rated “EXCELLENT” by the Langtons Classification of Australian wine. Howard Park is also a member of the Australia’s First Families of Wines, a small group of equally dedicated family wine companies with the aim to improve the image of Australian wine across the globe.

On the Leston Vineyard site in Margaret River is the Cellar Door where visitors can taste and purchase wines across all the Howard Park range.
