Marchand & Burch

When two men met in a small village in Burgundy, they were instantly connected through their passion for Pinot Noir. This was in 1990, and many years later in 2007 this friendship bloomed into a partnership producing three varieties of wine under the Marchand & Burch label; Chardonnay, Shiraz and Pinot Noir from Western Australia.

Pascal Marchand, Burgundian winemaker and ex-regisseur from De La Vougeraire, and Jeff Burch, vigneron and owner of Burch Family Wines, are the founders of Marchand & Burch. Together they combine centuries of Burgundian experience and the best of West Australian and French fruit sourcing to craft a range of wines that excites the passion in both of these two men.

Marchand & Burch is a unique partnership where the old world meets the new world for the production of fine wines. This partnership was formed with the vision of sourcing fruit from specifically identified vineyard blocks in the South-West of Western Australia. They aim to work the natural environment to craft wines that best expresses the soils from which the grapes have come.

The label has grown to include both an ‘Australian Collection’ and ‘French Collection’, with over a dozen wines currently being produced. In 2008, Burgundian wines were added to this exciting venture. A Gevrey Chambertin, a Clos de Beze and a Meursault sourced by Pascal were released in Australia in 2009. The collection has now grown to include Grand Crus – Mazis Chambertin and Chambertin Clos de Beze as well as other exciting French wines.

Pascal and Jeff have orchestrated this partnership with great care, and the creation of this wine house reflects the hard work of these two men.
