Subtle oak, white peach and lime blossom intermingle with saline notes, reflecting the wine’s Great Southern origins. Pink Lady apple, grapefruit and Meyer lemon drive the palate with savoury elements of salted cashew and nutmeal providing complexity and depth. The judicious use of French oak and lees stirring provide a creaminess and weight balanced by crisp acidity and granite minerality typical of our Mount Barrow vineyard.

Full Tasting Note

Fresh and lifted aromas of grapefruit, nectarine, mineral and melon skin. The palate has a lovely creamy texture to it, partnering nicely with white peach and melon flavours. The acidity is bright and crunchy and the length is smart. Good value.

Very pale straw/lemon in colour. Flint by name and flinty by nature. Quiet, restrained apple blossom, lime and grapefruit citrus notes with white stone fruit flesh. A little creamy nuance from the barrel work with light water cracker biscuit snap and savoury meal under the fruit. Tight and focused palate. Winemaking intentions achieved. Some may bemoan the lack of flesh (don’t fret, there’s body), but surely must respect the subtlety and structure. Fine value for those that like their Chardonnay a little racier.

Maybe it’s the word association of flint and rock, but there’s a flintiness to this and also plenty of refreshing citrus. It’s smart: white nectarine, spice and a light layer of mouthcoating lees with ultra-refreshing acidity.
