Howard Park Jeté Rosé NV

It’s an attractive coppery pink; fragrant with lemon blossom and roses, toasted brioche and lime curd. The palate is tight, citrusy yet with hints of red fruits, too, shortcake and a lovely creaminess, all cinched tightly with bright acidity. Very good.

Pink grapefruits, biscuits, pomegranates and rose water on the nose. Crisp, bright and tangy, with a medium body and fine bubbles. Elegant, fine and dry sparkling rosé. Pinot noir.

Vibrant rose gold colour, aromatic and heady with red cherry and sweet spices lifting from the glass. Palate is bone dry with red cherry fruit, exotic wood spices and a hint of savoury undergrowth lingering throughout. The fine bead brings lift and carry to the flow and it lingers long. A wonderful expression of sparkling rosé that has a serious side and will match best with food.

I do like pink sparkling wine and this is a cracking good example of the style…Creamy strawberry fruit with a hint of brioche.

Coppery peach in hue. Plentiful fine, fast moving beading. Warm baking spices, flaky cherry Danish, sea spray, orange zest and orange bitters. Tight mousse held in place with nervy acidity. Savoury and extra dry, offering gamey and umami nuances over light red fruits. Chalky, understated texture through the classy finish.

This one took me by surprise. If you don’t think pink is serious bubbles, take a look at this…this salmon-coloured beauty reveals beguiling bread and fresh dough aromas, laced with fresh cherry, raspberry and a pinch of nutty richness. The delicate bubbles and shimmering acidity keep everything fresh and in check. Stunning.

The NV Jeté Rosé Brut is pretty. A gently reductive nose leads the way to a plump, succulent middle palate littered with strawberries, brine and Pink Lady apples. The mix of oak and stainless steel vessels for primary ferment has lent a textural softness to the wine. A gentle crushed shell character gives a little saline lift through the finish.

Oyster shell, ruby grapefruit, crystals of acidity, pink peach sorbet, Bellini. Pure and straightforward, flinty finish, pleasing and joyful.

The Burch family’s love of classical ballet is reflected in this en pointe pink bubbly. Savour the white strawberry and rose-petal aromas with a fine creamy mousse. The flavoursome palate speaks of fresh raspberries and Turkish nougat. Finishes with verve and vitality.

Dusky peach in colour. Plenty of fast moving beading and a fine lace. Watermelon candies, cherry Danish, pink grapefruit, ‘creaming soda,’ pink chalk, pink salt (lots of pink things!) and peach slices balanced with an umami meatiness. On the palate, bright pink and red fruits bounce along happily over a serious and firm base. Tight and layered with only just a hint of breadth coming from the robust and raspy Pinot Noir dominant mousse. Finish of pink grapefruit and strawberries n’ cream rolled into cutting tail.

Blush in colour. Pretty by sight and nature. Creamy mousse, yet defined. Energy, yet a softness and sits back to listen to others. Red berries, musk rose, very charming. Vanilla rhubarb. A little biscuity – spiced biscuit. Palate has that delicious leesy texture, savoury notes and crushed shell. Stewed rhubarb, a little crumble/biscuit. Sour cherry, redcurrant, red florals, acid “bite”, but great length and 95 points for a wine of this style. Really fab. Phenolics excellent. Strawberry tip. Fresh, Crisp and crunchy, Charming. Dry mineral finish, chalky, talc. Floral lift. Fruit and place.

This is very good. If ever you wanted evidence that Jeté is on the right track, this wine provides it. It’s shelly, strawberried, flavoursome and yet racy. There’s a serious amount of complexity on offer here, in a refreshing package. Absolutely, 100% recommend this.

While most of the attention on top-flight sparklings is focused on Australia’s southeast, a quiet revolution has been taking place in the west, much of it driven by the Jeté program at Howard Park. This ticks all the pink fizz boxes. A delicately pale blush, the colour of mild embarrassment. Aromatics that take cues from colour: macerated strawberries, redcurrants, ruby grapefruit. And a palate that delivers lightly toasted complexity, a slice of summer pudding and a fine, minerally edge.

Pale salmon colour. Lovely strawberry pastry, hint marzipan aromas and flavour. Generous and creamy with lovely nectarine, strawberry fruit, lacy textures, attractive mid palate volume and long crispy acidity. Al dente / chalky finish with long minerally notes. Extra fine bubbles carry flavours across the palate.

Very pale salmon colour. Cherry-candy nose. Toasty palate with red fruit, delivering well-defined flavour.

A lovely rose-gold hue. Blood orange, red rose, wild strawberry and nutritional yeast set the scene, with peach blossom adding further lift. A saline note lends savoury tension alongside a subtle nutty nuance. The palate shows good energy, backbone and texture, aided by a fine, creamy bead. Blood orange and wild strawberry reappear, joined by cranberry and rose. The blood orange contributes an attractive bitter note through the finish, while citrusy acidity keeps everything fresh and clean. Good length and a
confidently vinous feel — poised rather than teetering. Quite delicious.
