The 2020 Savigny-Les-Beaune Les Vergelesses Premier Cru comes from an old-vine plot owned by Pascal within this vineyard which is in the shadow of the great hill of Corton. Les Vergelesses is planted to both Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Pascal’s vines benefit from an ideal southern aspect on the undulating slope, and his careful biodynamic farming to balance the soil and ensure optimum vine health.

TASTING NOTE
Vintage
Pink grapefruit, lime curd, lemon pith, and orange blossom coalesce creating a fragrant perfume complemented by sea spray and oyster shell minerality. Elements of oak influence swirl around the fruit-filled, floral bouquet with notes of roasted hazelnut, toasted brioche, praline, and almond kernel. The palate possesses great depth of flavour and a rich mouth-filling texture yet remains elegant and lithe with bright acidity and a limestone mineral drive. Flavours of fleshy white nectarine, lemon meringue, and quince fill the palate curling around to form a fresh, yet lengthy finish. Enlivened by tension and depth, this wine is wonderfully complex with an undeniable vibrancy making it delicious to drink now though it will certainly only continue to improve with age.

Serve with risotto verde or an elegant antipasto of vitello tonnato with fried capers and crusty bread.
